The new Reflections Packet is now available.  You can go online to www.capta.org for the latest changes to the rules.  I have also attached a copy.  Please pass this info along if you are changing presidents and or Reflections Chairs.  It is very important that this info gets out prior to the last day of school so that year round students and those wishing to get a summer start may do so.
 
 The cut off date is Nov. 1 2008 and I will only be taking the top three from each category.  We are attempting to streamline this process so I will be intouch with further detail as they arise.  The packet will also be available on the IUCPTA website as well. www.IUCPTA.org

Additional volunteers are also needed for the upcomingHonors Concert, Tuesday April 29.  We need help collecting and selling tickets and distributing programs.  We can use volunteers anytime between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., and also at 9:00 p.m. to help with clean up (in case you are attending the concert and stay a little longer).J Since we are combining two nights of concert in to one night, we expect a larger than normal audience, and we want to make sure that ticketing and seating go smoothly.  Please let me know if you can help out.  Middle and high school Ambassadors:  if you have music booster programs at your school, please let them know about this opportunity as well.

Convention!!!  This year's theme is "Under the Sea", the dates of convention are May 1st through the 4th.
 
Please join me at Convention this year and let's show them Irvine Cares about kids! You will learn about current issues in education, network to share best practices and hear experts and inspirational speakers.   
 
All units should have at least one person attending Convention this year. The dates of convention are May 1st through the 4th.
 
Convention will be at the Long Beach Convention Center with a special night at the Long Beach Aquarium ($35.00 includes dinner, dancing and admission into the Aquarium of the Pacific ). See attached flyer. If your unit has not received a Convention packet please let me know asap and I will get one to you. All Unit Presidents should have received their Convention packets. I urge you not to miss this very valuable training.  Convention is a great resource and being so close to home, everyone that can attend, should attend.  If there is a question as to how many voting delegates you can send, please contact me.  Remember; you don't have to be a voting delegate to attend the classes.  Every unit should send as many board members as possible.  Don't forget that these delegates must be voted in by your association ( a quick and easy task ).
 
 
Long Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau has provided us a link for housing registration and it is on the CAPTA website (click on the Convention button). The faxes yesterday were coming in by the "boatloads" (their words not mine) and jamming their fax machine.  Please go to www.capta.org to register for Convention as well as housing. Please note that the t-shirts are Mens sizes ? !!!

HOW TO REGISTER:
There are two ways to register:  online or by mail.  (In either case, the check needs to be mailed.)  We prefer online registration because it ensures correct spelling of names and emails, it gives the registrant an instant emailed confirmation, and it saves the committee lots of data entry!  (Hey, we’re all volunteers, too.)
 
INSTRUCTIONS:
1.  Go to 4th District PTA’s website:  http://www.fourthdistrictpta.org/
2.  Click on the “Advocacy” drop menu and select “Sacramento Safari”
3.  Read the information on the page
4.  Look for the “Registration Options” box near the lower right.
5.  Choose “Register Online”
6.  Fill in all the information you can, including emergency contacts.  Be particularly careful that the name you give is the name on the ID you will use to board the airline flight.
7.  Print up the confirmation page before you push the submit button.
8.  See your instant email confirmation
9.  Mail in your check for either $475 or $550, accompanied by either your confirmation page or your confirmation email, to:

PTA Elections are coming right up.  That means that you should have elected a nominating committee to find PTA members to serve as officers for your unit PTA.  At the Fourth District PTA website,
you will find handouts for your nominating committee, including a checklist, the script for an election, a form for the nominating committee to complete and submit to your secretary (as part of the permanent minutes),  and other instructions.
