Wearing Campaign Gear to the
Polls and Neighborhood Canvassing Rules
The Easy Voter Guide Project has recently
received many inquiries about wearing campaign
buttons and shirts to the polls. In the State of
California, it is illegal to wear any type of
campaign clothing or paraphernalia into the polling
place or to campaign within 100 feet of the polling
place.
Also, if you are participating in a neighborhood
canvassing effort, please remember that you cannot
put election materials (even educational materials
such as the Easy Voter Guide) in private mailboxes
intended for U.S. Mail—it’s the law!
If you have questions about these or other election
issues, contact us at easyvoter@lwvc.org.
